I purchased three copies of the Not Consumed Prayer Journal: one for myself, one for my 16-year-old daughter, and one for our dear friend. I will be a repeat customer!
The cover is definitely durable for the year, as is the movable bookmark--and the binding will not fail us, I'm sure, because 20 days of use and it's like new. I love almost everything about this journal--our #1 only complaint is that are not 365 pages for journaling, but 284, leaving EIGHTY ONE days without a daily log! When I asked why this is so I was told that the back pages are to be used during resting days (Sundays, of course), but even in this case the count is off... 52 Sundays in a year should still add up to 313 daily prayer journaling pages. My daughter & I have NOT been taking Saturdays and/or Sundays off, as we are working through the Bible in a Year (BIAY) podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz (Ascension publications), so we truly need 365 days to mark our notes on reading, record our prayers before our nightly rosary together, etc. AND, there are highlights of EVERY day, not only 284/365 days out of the year... so this, too, confuses us.
REGARDLESS< as I mentioned, the book is PRACTICALLY perfect. The layouts are sweet, and light enough for us to write on and over; the daily routine of recalling a Highlight of the Day and things to be thankful for (Thanksgiving) is so good for our spirits and our souls! We sometimes add a sticker from the front pages, sometimes color in a graphic... but each day is filled with notes, prayers, and our BIAY reading notes.
Tabs, too, are high quality, and I LOVE the two-sided pocket at the back, where I have placed a couple prayer cards, and even a funeral card from this year already. The journal even came with a very nice pen. All of this was 100% worth the price! As we read with Fr. Mike we go to the pages that list reading through Scripture through the year and fill in the squares as we complete each section. Sometimes his readings are not exactly the same divisions as Not Consumed, but we make notes to show our progress anyway.
I know this was designed for and by a Protestant Christian, but we are finding it equally useful as Catholics. To a Catholic this word "Adoration" is particularly important, as we all spend time regularly just sitting peacefully in prayer in quiet chapels where our Lord is present in the Holy Eucharist. As Christ said to his faithful Apostles, Peter and the sons of Zebedee at the Garden called Gethsemane, after his blood-sweated pleas to the Father, "Could you not wait one hour with me?" We Catholics sit with him for whole hours at a time in adoration. The back segment by the same name will be my quiet space in my hours before the Lord.
The daily segment on Confession is also so rich for a Catholic Christian, as we practice what is known as the Nightly Examen--a time of looking back over the day and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal moments of vice that we need to work on. I LOVE how this ACTS prayer model works for us as Catholics, too! When I *do* get to confession with the priest I can look back over my notes from this journal to jog my memory, and notice patterns. Of course, not all sins should be noted in a spiral-bound book! But, in making the daily record of moments gone awry we can work, daily, on consecrating ourselves to the Father.
When I learned the ACTS prayer model as a teenager we added one more "C:" Consecration. Offering yourself as a servant to Christ. So, Adoration, Confession, Consecration, Thanksgiving, Supplication. Perfect model for prayer and daily examination.
Thank you! Please add more daily pages to next year's edition, because that will make it Just Right!
I really like the format. Several small spaces to jot the highlights down. I haven’t had the time or taken the time to get regular at it.
My only complaint is that I didn’t receive the pen with mine and I was told one would be sent, but I still haven’t gotten it.
I am really enjoying my prayer journal. It is a way to keep me focused and spending more time in the Word. I look forward to my prayer time in a new way. I would highly recommend this prayer journal.
I LOVE THESE!! Well I’m not a homeschool mom, I am a recently retired empty nester and want to begin to memorize scripture again. I love the idea of having the verse in front of me as I plant God’s word deep into my heart.
The multi use memory card gives me the chance to mail it to a friend when I’m done with it! This way maybe I can encourage someone else to memorize scripture as well!
Cute pen, works well. My daughter enjoyed getting this fun little addition with her Bible study on obedience.
We love using these studies as a family. It is so encouraging to see our kids dig into scripture for answers but also, to see the wheels turning as they are understanding what they are reading. This has been a blessing to our family!
We were so pleased with these cards that we purchased them for all of the teachers and staff at our Christian school for Christmas. They are beautifully done and very high quality. Thank you for making these available! ❤️
I started using the cards on the 1st day and I plan on giving these as gifts this year!
I bought two sets for my daughters as last-minute Christmas gifts. I chose express shipping and after contacting the Not Consumed team, they worked to get my order out same-day so they were delivered on time. The cards are done in beautiful muted tones, and thanks to the beautiful little bag they each came in, I didn't even feel the need to wrap them.
The Homeschool Organization Planner is an amazing tool for any homeschool. I was worried it wouldn’t be very useful as we homeschool using a “boxed curriculum” and lesson plans were already given to us. However, the planner along with the boot camp were more than helpful. It allowed me to plan out strengths and weaknesses, plan our calendar, plan for supplementals, and so much more! So glad I took the leap and grabbed this planner!
We were looking for an "advent" activity to do that was better suited for pretens and we got this one in Youth. We loved it! It was very thorough and we loved that it started way way back in the beginning and connects and builds on it everyday. My son thought Christmas started of course the day Jesus was born and we loved how it broke it down for him. He also said it's very personal and made him think, which we loved when going over his responses.
I have been on the search for several planners for my son's 1st homeschool year as we will also be doing a transition into being more independent (he's 12). After looking a several options I finally settled on this one and I am very happy with this purchase it has everything I wanted to keep track of including the recording keeping instead of having it all in separate places and in a easy to use layout.
When this says complete it means complete. I had finally settled on a language arts program but was still not satisfied with the reading programs to pick one I bought this journal on sale and I was blown away by how comprehensive it is with the complete allowance of picking the book that will be used. I am very excited to use this in our homeschool curriculum this year.
My husband and I have been working on our prayers and began looking for resources to have more meaningful prayers but found it a bit difficult to use those resources with our kids. We love that these cards break down into bite size pieces the basic idea of what our resources teach but in a way that kids can understand.
I have been trying to be more intentional about my prayer time but I wanted something that can keep track of who I need to pray for, specific prayers I am praying for like those long term prayers that I need to focus on as well as short term everyday prayers and I bought this journal for myself on my birthday and I love the layout of the journal. It's my first one so I can't compare it to others but I absolutely love it. The chronological bible reading plan is a great bonus as I was looking for one of those as well!
