Does In Your Own Words have a teacher's manual?

In Your Own Words is an independent learning-based course and does not require a teacher's manual. A digital answer key that can be downloaded to your device is available.
How long does In Your Own Words take to complete?

In Your Own Words is a full year course. Suggested pacing guidelines are given in the introductory lesson. The book can be completed by following 5 lessons per week for 24 weeks or 4 lessons per week for 30 weeks. However, the schedule can also be spread out to fit your student's course load or academic plan.
Does my teen need to be a good writer to start?

No. Your teen doesn't need any creative writing background, because the course explains each form and each step of the writing process. They should be comfortable using everyday language, since In Your Own Words doesn't include grammar or spelling instruction.
Does In Your Own Words count as a high school English credit?

Yes. In Your Own Words is designed as a full-year high school English course. With 120 lessons plus 10 bonus challenges, students study poetry and prose and write their own pieces, work you can include on their homeschool transcript.
Are the poems and stories in the book appropriate?

Yes. The examples were chosen carefully and on purpose, and the course is taught from a biblical worldview. Your teen studies good writing without you needing to preview it first.
