Thrive begins by laying the foundation that God designed our bodies. Using scripture and science, your teen will receive an education that focuses on stewarding the body they've been gifted, not just being the best athlete or having the fittest physique.
By beginning and ending the year with a physical and written assessment, students are able to track their progress, growing in both strength and knowledge throughout the school year. At the end of the curriculum, they can look back and see how far they've come.
Thrive encourages students to try a variety of sports and exercises, giving your teen the opportunity to find what is both challenging and enjoyable for them. From weightlifting to frisbee throwing, your student can explore so many ways to move, push, and grow their body.
In addition to physical fitness, your student will learn about healthy, nutritional eating. No fad dieting or crash calorie burning here—instead, your teens will be taught how to build meals that fuel their bodies and allow them to thrive.

God has blessed the Not Consumed team with a great deal of education (including a variety of degrees) and decades of combined homeschool experience. Several team members have subject specific degrees or master's degrees in education, specifically curriculum design.
I believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. I believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.
Though schools can be accredited, there is not an accreditation program for curriculum.
Thrive is designed to be completed in grades 9-12. No prerequisites required.
Thrive is independent learning-based and does not require a teacher’s manual. The answers to the assessments for Thrive are in the back of the student book.
Thrive can count for one full credit, or two ½ credits. This can be divided into a ½ credit for Health and ½ credit for Physical Education. Other elective titles could be Nutrition or Wellness. Consult your state guidelines for specific requirements.
Thrive has 137 pages, covers 36 weeks of instruction, and includes a Get Moving Journal.
Thrive lessons are designed to be completed three days per week. However, physical activity is encouraged five days per week to build healthy habits.
There is a pre-assessment and post-assessment included in the book.
Thrive was specifically designed for 9-12th grades. It could potentially be used in 8th grade if your student is earning high school credits.
This course would be an excellent choice for a homeschool co-op since it is designed as a homeschool course to be completed three days per week.
Thrive defines health and nutrition vocabulary and explains how these fit together for well-balanced health. Some data from the course is pulled from the American Heart Association. Thrive does not suggest or recommend any specific nutrition or exercise plan. We recommend consulting with a nutritionist, a dietician, or a healthcare professional with specific questions and concerns. Students are required to research amounts of vitamins, calories, and nutrients in certain foods and compare them to draw their own conclusions. Students are also encouraged to have regular physical activity.
Thrive is a Health and PE course combined. It is user friendly, fun, and interesting for my homeschooled sophomore. I like that it motivates her to be active and healthy. I especially appreciate that the physical activities are things she can easily do on her own without having to buy any additional sports equipment or gym membership. My daughter likes that she’s learning a lot through researching things, the drawings are engaging, and the activities are fun and easy. We would recommend this course!
Thrive will be perfect for my 9th grader this fall. Before finding this I wasn't sure what my oldest would be able to use for his P.E./Health credit. I love that it is a great combo of eating healthy and physical exercise! The layout is very user friendly and pleasant for our ADHD brains, so thank you for that!
My children are still in elementary grades, but I ordered this book for myself. So far it’s been a great refresher on general health information, and I’ve become fascinated all over again with how amazing God has created our bodies to be! I am really excited to continue working through this book. I think it would be a great resource for students to work through - the lessons are bite size and every day you are encouraged to move your body. It will provide high schoolers with a solid understanding of a healthy lifestyle, while also underscoring the reason WHY we care for our bodies - they are not our own, they are a temple where the Holy Spirit dwells, and they deserve to be taken care of as such!
I’m so excited for the new homeschool curriculum! My daughter will be a freshmen next year and this def. Takes some of the stress away as far as trying to find a good Christian health/P.E. Curriculum that counts as a full credit! Hoping for more curriculum releases in the future!
I have just thumbed through the book and hope to use it next school year. I like what I see so far.
This curriculum book is super extensive about the subjects we'll be covering. It has a beautiful and easy to learn layout and walk through of the materials that makes sense to the student. I'm kind of tempted to get a set for myself to learn alongside my kids!
I am so excited to use this for my high schooler. I have been looking around for something to fulfill the health requirement and there are several options but I love the perspective of NC. This book doesn’t look overly burdensome but will help tech how to care for one’s body in a way that honors God.
I have been looking for a program like this for a while. It combines nutrition, health and PE for all types of kids whether they like popular sports or find joy in everyday movement/activity.
