What If the Bible Became the First Place Your Kids Looked for Answers?

Your kids can retell the parable of the lost sheep. But do they know why Jesus told it?

The Stepping Stones series gives kids the tools to go further: what the big words mean, how to find a passage in their own Bibles, and how God's Word connects to their everyday lives.

Short daily lessons make it doable, because knowing the stories is only the beginning.

  • Real Bible Study Skills: Kids look up every verse in their own Bibles because the passages are never printed in the book.

  • Five Focused Studies: Your kids dig into one truth a day for 20 days, so theology words, heroes, promises, miracles, and parables start making sense.

  • Four Age Levels: Everyone studies the same topic at their own level, from read-aloud lessons for little ones to independent study for teens.

  • Open-and-Go for You: Lessons take 10 to 20 minutes a day and require zero prep.

  • A Habit That Outlasts the Bundle: A lesson a day turns opening the Bible together into something your family just does.

What Exactly Is the Stepping Stones Bible Study Bundle?

The Stepping Stones series is a set of five Bible studies that teach kids how to read, understand, and apply Scripture for themselves, one topic at a time. Each study offers 20 lessons, and each one takes about 10 to 20 minutes, depending on your child's age level.

Many kids grow up on Bible stories. They know Noah built an ark, Daniel survived the lions, and Jesus fed thousands with a little boy's lunch. Stories are a wonderful place to start. But between the storybook and a real Bible, many kids get stuck. The words are big. The books are long. Nobody has shown them how to find a passage, ask good questions, or connect what they read to their life.

Stepping Stones was written to fill the gap. Kids learn what the important words mean, where to find specific Scripture in their own Bibles, and how it all connects to Jesus.

How a Daily Lesson Works

Read: Each day opens with a short, relatable reading that explains one important word or idea in language kids already use

Look It Up: The lesson sends your child to their own Bible to find and read the day's key verse, then asks what they discovered there

Respond: Reflection questions, a prayer prompt, and a sticker for the tracker help kids apply the truth and mark another step

How This Series Works

Grow in your walk with Christ with the 5-book Stepping Stones set. Kids will explore theology, discover God’s power, uncover the meaning of Jesus’ parables, trust His faithfulness, and learn how real heroes are defined by faith.

Every lesson in each study follows the same structure: a key truth, a central Scripture, and discussion questions that bring your whole family into the conversation.

Five Studies, One Step at a Time

  • Bible Basics: Kids learn the important theology words they hear in church or read in the Bible, words like grace, covenant, and salvation, and see how each one connects to their lives and their hearts

  • Heroes: Kids meet ordinary people God used in extraordinary ways, from Noah and Rahab to Mary and Paul, and place a picture of each on a timeline of heroes as they go

  • Promises: Kids trace God's promises from Genesis to Revelation and discover that He has kept every single promise He has made

  • Miracles: Kids discover the deeper purpose behind 19 miracles, from Creation to the empty tomb, and what God's power reveals about His character

  • Parables: Kids learn why Jesus taught in stories, then walk through the parables one at a time, from the sower and the seed to the persistent widow

A Tracker Kids Love

Every finished lesson earns a sticker for that study's tracker, and each tracker builds its own picture, like the page of theology words in Bible Basics, the kingdom castle in Parables, or the path of stepping stones in Promises.

Weekly Challenges

Inviting challenges in every study give kids simple, real-life ways to practice what they're learning through service, prayer, and conversation.

The Storybook Bible Shelf Is Full

You've read the same stories so many times your kids can finish the sentences. They know Noah and the ark. They love how Moses told Pharaoh, "Let my people go." Lately, though, you've been wondering how to help them begin reading God's Word for themselves.

The children's devotionals feel too light. Adult studies sail right over their heads. And the workbooks you've tried keep little hands busy without ever reaching the heart, because nothing on the page ever asks them to open a Bible. Piecing together your own family study instead takes more planning time than your week has to spare.

You don't need another storybook. You need something that teaches your kids how to open the Bible for themselves and get to know God.

From Kim Sorgius Jones, Founder of Not Consumed

"Because of the Lord's Great Mercies, We Are Not Consumed"

In 2011, I was a newly single mom of four kids, ages one to seven. I had sold nearly everything we owned to pay a year of rent in advance, and one quiet night after bedtime I cried out, "God, what do you want me to do?" Then I went right back to studying my Bible.

I was reading Lamentations that night when I found the words that changed everything: because of the Lord's great mercies, we are not consumed. I didn't know what the future held. I knew we would be okay, because God's love and compassion would never fail us.

Years later, I sat in an oncology clinic with my youngest son, clinging to those same words. They have carried our family through the big trials and the ordinary Tuesdays. That's why Not Consumed exists: to help families grow in faith so they can live not consumed by life. And it's why we write Bible studies that get kids into the Word for themselves. The more we get into the Bible, the more we see the goodness of God, and the more we learn to trust Him.

That night I knew where to look. That's why these studies send your kids to their own Bible instead of telling them what it says.

Your Kids Don't Need a Seminary Degree to Know God

They need someone to show them what the words mean, where to look, and how to ask good questions. That's what these five studies do. Every lesson ends in reflection and prayer, so Bible time becomes one of your favorite parts of the day.

They Hear These Words at Church. Now They'll Know What They Mean.

When kids hear a word like grace or covenant at church, you see their eyes glaze. These studies give them the real meaning in words even a seven-year-old can use.

If you have a preschooler and a preteen, Bible time means teaching two different lessons. Our studies come in four levels, so the whole family studies the same topic at their own level, then comes back together to talk about it.

If you've tried other Bible studies you know that devotionals can be too simple and other studies can be too hard. Simple workbooks keep hands busy without ever opening a Bible.

Stepping Stones sends your kids to their own Bible in every lesson.

Your family gets time in the Word with no prep from you, and it fits every age.

You're in the Right Place If:

  • You want your kids to know what Scripture actually says for themselves
  • You want a Bible time that goes deeper than storytime
  • You're teaching multiple ages and want everyone studying the same thing at once
  • You need a Bible study that fits real days, whether that's the homeschool table or after dinner, with no prep and no planning
  • You'd rather build a lasting habit that keeps your children in the Word

Stepping Stones Bible study bundle is the next step after Bible stories.

We Break It Down, We Don't Water It Down

Kids can handle sound doctrine. We hold that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice, so we never print the verse for them and we don't teach along denominational lines. Every question sends your child to their own Bible, in whatever translation is already on your shelf.

Kim Sorgius Jones holds an M.A. in curriculum design and taught kindergarten through second grade for ten years, which is why every study comes in four levels. She has learned firsthand how to trust God in difficult circumstances. That's why she cares about helping kids get into the Word for themselves. These studies put the Bible itself in your child's hands rather than only describing it to them. We can teach them what the words mean and show them where to look. The change in their heart is God's work.

  • 0 Verses printed in these lessons. Every one gets looked up in your child's own Bible, in the translation your family already reads.

  • 5 Complete Bible studies, one topic at a time: theology words, heroes, promises, miracles, and parables. Together they draw from Genesis through Revelation, Old Testament and New.

  • 4 Levels of every study, so your four-year-old and your fourteen-year-old sit down to the same truth on the same day and meet back at the table to talk about it.

  • 20 Theology words your child can define by the end of Bible Basics, from grace and covenant to justified and sanctification.

When Bible Study Leads to Real Conversation

The Bible lesson may only take about 15 minutes to complete, but the conversation doesn't end when the book closes.

Your child now has context for a theology word, a hero from Scripture, or another part of the story of the Bible they didn't understand before.

So when a word like sanctification comes up at the dinner table, your kids recognize it. They have their own thoughts to share. It might even lead to a question that sends your 12-year-old to grab his Bible and look for the answer.

This is what families tell us they love about the Stepping Stones series. The studies are easy to work through without feeling daunting to kids, but there's enough biblical depth to get everyone talking, including the adults.

Over time, the sticker completion pages become more than a record of finished lessons. Each one becomes a picture of the biblical truths your kids have studied, talked about, and learned to find in Scripture for themselves.

Questions About Stepping Stones Series Bundle

  • Which age level should I choose?

Primary (ages 4-7) is designed for you to read aloud with your child and includes an activity page in every lesson. Junior (ages 8-12) and Youth (13+) are written for independent study. The Parent Guide gives you discussion questions and teaching tips for each day, so you can lead the conversation without extra prep. And plenty of moms tell us the studies sharpen their own answers too, with simple definitions for the big ideas they've been asked to explain on the spot.

  • How many books do I need?

Each child needs their own copy at their level. The books are interactive, with space to write, respond, and place stickers every day.

  • How long does each study take?

Each study is 20 lessons, and each lesson takes about 10 to 20 minutes, depending on age level. At a lesson a day, one study lasts about a month, so the five studies together give your family months of Bible time.

  • Do I need to prepare anything?

No prep is needed. Lessons are open-and-go, and the Parent Guide equips you to lead the family discussion if you want the extra support.

  • What if my kids aren't excited about Bible study?

You're not alone, and this is what we hear from parents who face the same challenge. One mom told us her 8-year-old is "the one asking me if we can do Bible study every morning," and another said her kids "almost always ask if we can do another one once we finish for the day." Not Consumed Bible studies help make Bible study engaging, even for kids who haven't enjoyed it before. The lessons are short, the reading is relatable, and the stickers give kids a finish line to reach every day.

  • Do we have to be homeschoolers to use this?

Not at all. Families use these studies for morning devotions, Bible time after dinner, and personal quiet time, and one reviewer even uses them with her children's church class of ages 5 to 10. Wherever your family opens the Bible, these studies fit.

  • What order should we study them in?

Each study stands on its own, so you can start with any topic that fits your family right now. Many families start with Bible Basics, because the words kids learn there show up in every study that follows.

  • What Bible translation do the studies use?

The studies are written with the ESV, and kids look verses up in their own Bibles, so your family can use the translation you already love.

  • What does Not Consumed believe?

We believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.

Raise Kids Who Know Where to Look

The lessons will all be finished. The last sticker will be placed. The books will go up on a shelf.

But if your kids know where to turn when they have questions, if opening the Bible has become their first instinct instead of their last, that is time stewarded well.
