Your Child Needs a Savior, Not a Self-Help Book

Called to Be points your child to what God says about their worth. Instead of looking to the world for validation, they’ll discover where they belong and how knowing Jesus changes the way they live.

Help Your Kids Become Who God Created Them to Be

Your kids are already asking life's biggest questions. Why am I here? What makes me valuable? Who decides what's good? The world answers those questions all day long, and its answers do not come from Scripture. The Called to Be Series puts God's answers in front of your kids every day, in Scripture that they look up themselves.

  • A Biblical Answer to the World's Message: Kids are constantly told to find themselves and define their own worth. These five studies point them back to the Word, where purpose and value begin with their Creator.

  • Real Bible Study Skills: Kids look up every verse in their own Bibles because the passages are never printed in the book.

  • Three Age Levels Plus a Parent Guide: Everyone studies the same truth at their own level, from parent-led lessons for little ones to independent study for teens.

  • Open-and-Go for You: Lessons take about 10 to 15 minutes a day and require zero prep.

  • Truths That Don't Change: Every day gives kids specific, Scripture-grounded truths about who they are because of Jesus.

Yes! I Want the Called to Be Series

What Exactly Is the Called to Be Series?

The Called to Be Series is a set of five connected Bible studies that walk kids through the questions growing believers naturally ask, from why God made them to what it means to live differently from the world. Each study runs 20 days at about 10 to 15 minutes a day, and every study comes in Primary, Junior, and Youth levels plus a Parent Guide. The whole family studies the same biblical truth at an age-appropriate level.

Each study stands on its own, but the order is intentional. Created answers why God made us. Who Am I settles who we are in Christ. Spiritual Fruit shows how change happens. One Another puts it into practice toward other people. Blessed shows what a genuinely blessed life looks like day to day. Every study picks up where the last one left off, and by the end your kids have the whole picture.

How a Daily Lesson Works

  1. Read: Each day opens with a short reading or a story kids relate to, like an empty toothpaste tube or a long-fuse firework, that makes one big truth concrete.
  2. Look It Up: The lesson sends your child to their own Bible to find and read the day's Scripture, because the verse is never printed on the page.
  3. Respond: Prompts and activities inside the lessons help kids apply the truth, and a sticker adds one more piece to the scene they're building.

How This Series Works

Called to Be is a five-study series that helps kids understand who God created them to be, who they are in Christ, and how that shapes everyday life.

Each 20-day study builds naturally on the one before it, moving from purpose and identity to spiritual growth, loving others, and living by Jesus’ Kingdom values. With age-appropriate levels for the whole family, everyone studies the same biblical truth and comes back together to discuss what they’re learning.

What Your Kids Will Learn

Truths they'll carry:

  • God made them on purpose, in His image, and their worth was given, not earned.
  • Who they are in Christ doesn't change with grades, friendships, or feelings, because Jesus doesn't change.
  • The fruit of the Spirit is grown by the Spirit, not produced by willpower.
  • Love is a command with twenty real-life examples, not just a feeling.
  • The blessed life Jesus describes looks different from the one the world advertises.

Skills they'll practice:

  • Opening the Word for themselves and finding books, chapters, and verses on their own
  • Reflecting on a passage and applying it to their own life, not just recalling facts about it
  • Working with real theological vocabulary, like grace, redeemer, meekness, and sanctification, explained in words kids understand
  • Comparing the same idea across the Old and New Testament to see how the whole Bible speaks to it
  • Putting the gospel into their own words to share with a friend

Five Studies, One Journey

  • Created (Who You Are in Light of Who God Is): Kids discover why God made them and how His tender care, creativity, delight, love, goodness, and faithfulness shape who they are. Purpose and worth begin with the Creator, not the child.

  • Who Am I (Finding Your Identity in Christ): Kids find specific, unchanging truths in Scripture: confident, forgiven, completely accepted, specially chosen. Because Jesus never changes, neither does who they are in Him.

  • Spiritual Fruit (A Bible Study on the Fruit of the Spirit): Kids learn that the fruit of the Spirit is grown by the Holy Spirit, not produced by trying harder, and they pick up one simple question the family keeps using: flesh or spirit?

  • One Another (Christlike Love in Action): Kids open Scripture to 20 specific ways love shows up, from forgiveness and encouragement to hospitality and prayer, each grounded in its own passage.

  • Blessed (Right Side Up in an Upside-Down World): Kids walk through the Beatitudes in Jesus' own words, learn to recognize the world's upside-down idea of a good life, and discover the right-side-up one.

Sticker Scenes They Build Themselves

Every study includes a sewn-in sticker page, and every finished lesson adds one more piece to that study's illustrated scene, like the rock climbing wall in One Another. By the end of the series your kids have five completed scenes.

Independent Study for Ages 8 and Up

The Junior (ages 8-12) and Youth (13+) editions are written for kids to complete on their own. They read, look up the verse, and respond without needing you to run the lesson.

Parent-Led for Little Ones

The Primary edition (ages 4 and up) is designed for you to read aloud with your child, so even your youngest studies the same truth as the big kids.

A Parent Guide That Leads the Conversation

Daily discussion questions and teaching tips help you bring everyone back together to talk about what they studied, with no prep on your end.

Challenges Inside Each Study

The studies don't stop at knowing. Challenges within each study turn truths into action, like welcoming someone new at church or praying for a neighbor.

A Gospel They Can Share

Who Am I includes a dedicated page that walks kids through explaining the gospel to a friend, with six Scripture references to guide them. Kids don't just learn who they are in Christ. They practice putting it into words.

Your Kids Are Being Discipled Every Day. By Whom?

Every child longs to belong. As they grow, they're constantly trying to find where they fit. They watch what gets celebrated, who gets accepted, and what it takes to fit in. The world offers answers to the questions that are pressing for them:

Who am I? What makes me valuable? Where do I belong?

Through media, peers, advertising, and the culture around them, your kids are constantly being told who they are and what matters most.

Those messages don't just shape behavior. They shape what your child believes about themselves and about God.

You don't have to win every conversation with the world. You just need to keep putting God's Word in front of your kids, day after day.

Your Children Don't Need to Find Themselves

Your kids are already asking life's biggest questions. The world answers them all day long. The Called to Be Series gives your kids somewhere better to look. It's five connected Bible studies where they open Scripture for themselves and discover who God says they are.

With the Called to Be Series, Your Child Will:

Discover why God created them and understand that their purpose and value come from their Creator.

Understand who they are in Christ, so their identity isn't determined by circumstances or what others think.

Learn that lasting change comes through the Holy Spirit, not simply trying harder, behaving better, or following more rules.

See what Christlike love looks like in everyday life and learn how to put biblical truth into practice in their relationships.

Recognize the world's messages about happiness and success and compare them with what Jesus says about a genuinely blessed life.

Confident Kids, Rooted in Christ

Each study intentionally builds on the last, helping your kids understand who God created them to be and how He calls them to live.

You're in the Right Place If:

  • You want your kids' sense of who they are to come from Scripture, not from the world around them
  • You're teaching multiple ages and want everyone studying the same truth at the same time
  • You care about what your child believes, not just how they behave
  • You want to help grow a daily Bible habit that lasts for life

We Break It Down, We Don't Water It Down

Kids can handle sound doctrine. We believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice, so we never print the verse for them and we don't teach along denominational lines. Every question sends your child to their own Bible, in whatever translation is already on your shelf.

Kim Sorgius Jones holds an M.A. in curriculum design and has taught kids of all ages for 23 years, which is why every study is thoughtfully written and age appropriate. And because these five studies deal with who your kids are, one conviction runs through every page: the study gets your child into God's Word, and the change in their heart is God's work, not ours.

  • 0 Verses printed in these lessons. Every one gets looked up in your child's own Bible, in the translation your family already reads.

  • 5 Connected Bible studies, each one answering the question the last one raised: why God made them, who they are in Christ, how change happens, how love shows up, and what blessed really means.

  • 3 Age levels of every study, Primary, Junior, and Youth, so your four-year-old and your fourteen-year-old sit down to the same truth on the same day. A Parent Guide equips you to lead the conversation afterward.

  • 20 Days in every study, at about 10 to 15 minutes a day, short enough to fit real life and deep enough to stick.

The World Says Fit In. Jesus Says Follow Me.

Your child will hear a lot of voices today. A screen tells them who they should be. Friends tell them what matters. The world measures success by popularity, performance, and approval. Those messages show up early in childhood.

Then they open their Bible study. They find today's passage in their own Bible, and God answers those same questions with truths that never change. You were created on purpose. Your worth was given, not earned. You belong to Christ, and here's what it looks like to follow Him today.

The world's message changes with every trend. God's Word never does. This series puts that unchanging truth in front of your kids every single day.

Questions About the Called to Be Series

  • Which age level should I choose?

Primary (ages 4-7) is designed for you to read aloud with your child. Junior (ages 8-12) and Youth (13+) are written for independent study. The Parent Guide gives you discussion questions and teaching tips for each day, so you can lead the conversation without any prep.

  • Do we have to do all five studies in order?

Each study stands on its own, but they are written to build on each other. Doing them in order gives your family the whole picture the series was written to give.

  • My kids are different ages. Will this work for all of them?

Every study uses the same Primary, Junior, Youth, and Parent Guide structure, so the whole family studies the same truth at their own level across all five. Your family learns the format and it stays familiar.

  • We go to church every week. Aren't they already getting this?

Yes, and both have an important place. Church gives kids opportunities to learn and grow alongside other believers, while Called to Be helps your family continue time in God's Word at home between church days. Each study spends 20 days digging into one topic, with kids looking up the answers in Scripture for themselves.

  • We already do a character study. Isn't this the same thing?

Traditional character studies hand kids a checklist of good traits to practice. Spiritual Fruit shows kids the fruit is not something they can produce through willpower. The Holy Spirit grows it from the inside out, and that truth changes how a child hears every other lesson in the series.

  • Is this biblically sound, or is it more of a feel-good study?

Every day sends kids into their own Bible to look up the references themselves. The answers come from Scripture, not the page.

  • My child isn't a Christian yet.

Our studies are for all children because we believe every child should be hearing and reading the Bible for themselves.

  • Is this going to make my child feel guilty if they don't measure up?

God's Word calls believers to grow, and these studies remind kids that following Jesus is a lifelong journey. Hard questions are always met with the hope and grace found in Scripture.

  • My teenager is past this. Isn't this more for younger kids?

The question of why God made them doesn't get easier with age. It gets louder. The Youth level meets teens right in the years when the world's definitions of worth get loudest.

  • What Bible translation do the studies use?

Kids look every verse up in their own Bibles, so your family can use the translation you already love.

  • What does Not Consumed believe?

We believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.

Your Kids Belong to Jesus, Not the World

They can grow up settled in the truth of whose they are, with God's Word open in front of them whenever they need to know what is true.

Long after the last study is finished, they'll carry that truth with them as they learn what it looks like to follow Him.
