Fulfilling high school P.E. requirements can be difficult when your teen isn't "sporty" or simply doesn't have time for a rigorous sports schedule. A school year involving nightly practices, weekend soccer games, or early morning swim meets isn't the only way to get that physical education credit.

This is why we wrote Thrive: Health and Physical Education for Homeschoolers!

This 36-week P.E. curriculum is specifically geared towards teaching teens in grades 9-12 why physical activity is important for them as well as showing how to make good choices for their health. Your teen will learn about how God made their body to function, the importance of sleep, hydration and nutrition, how to exercise safely, and so much more!

With Thrive, your child will:

Explain how God designed their body to function

Understand how nutrition, hydration, and sleep support health

Practice different exercises and find activities they enjoy

Monitor their physical activity and daily health habits

Compare assessment results to evaluate their learning and fitness

Understand from Scripture why caring for their body matters

A Health and PE Course Built for Real Life

Each lesson is written directly to your teen, followed by an activity to help them use what they’ve learned. They then choose ten minutes of movement and record it in the back of the journal. There are no tryouts, no practice schedule, and no season taking over your fall.

The course begins with a pre-assessment. Then your teen studies Genesis and Psalm 139 to understand that their body is a good gift from God.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Open-and-go lessons your teen completes independently
  • Three short lessons a week fit your homeschool schedule
  • At-home exercise options require no equipment
  • Scripture and science connect understanding with daily choices
  • Activity journal, assessments, and answer key included

More Details

Get Moving, Every Lesson

Every lesson ends with the same assignment: spend at least ten minutes moving, and log it in the Get Moving Journal in the back of the book. The book supplies full menus of activities that need zero equipment, so "I don't have anything to work out with" never becomes the reason to skip a day.

Three Short Lessons a Week

Each lesson is about a page: a short, conversational teaching written straight to your teen, followed by an activity. One day they're labeling a diagram of the heart. Another day they're measuring the actual sugar in a can of soda into a glass. Your teen schedules the three lessons on whatever days work for your family.

It Starts With Scripture

Thrive teaches your teen why before it teaches them how. They study what it means to be fearfully and wonderfully made, walk through the Hebrew behind those words, and learn why Scripture calls their body a temple.

General Homeschool FAQs

  • What are the credentials of the Not Consumed team?

The Not Consumed team exists for one purpose: to help your family grow in faith so you can live #NotConsumed. We are homeschool parents with over 220 years of combined homeschooling experience, advanced degrees in education and curriculum design, and a deep love for serving families well.  Everything we create is anchored in Scripture. We keep it practical, clear, and easy to use because we know your days are already full. We believe the best learning happens when families gather around God’s Word together. That’s why we create resources for different ages and stages, so everyone can take part.

  • What do you believe?

We are Bible-believing evangelical Christians. It's our mission to create products that handle the Word of God accurately and literally. We aim to get families into the Word for themselves and challenge them to read and think about it carefully rather than relying on the words and ideas of others. We believe all families should be asking about the theology of the resources they use, as nothing is neutral and everything has a worldview. Here is what we believe:

The Bible is God's Word and the final authority for everything we believe and how we live. It is completely true and trustworthy in all that it says, given to us by God down to its very words. There is one God who has always existed as three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God created all things, including human beings, by His own direct act. Salvation is a free and forever-secure gift, received by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus came in human flesh, was born of a virgin, and rose bodily from the grave. He will one day return in person, in His own body, to reign on the earth for a thousand years. This return will be personal, bodily, and premillennial.
