Give your middle schooler a full year of reading curriculum that builds deeper comprehension while letting them choose books that interest them.

They’ll choose 6 to 8 fiction and nonfiction books with you, then make a plan for how much they’ll read each day. For each book, they’ll start with a pre-reading activity and work through the lessons in order as they read. Depending on the book, they’ll analyze characters, explore important ideas, build vocabulary, find evidence to support their thinking, and finish with a writing assignment. They get more ownership, while you know they’re learning without having to plan every reading assignment yourself.

Build the Skills to Read Between the Lines

Your middle schooler will look at why a character made a particular choice, find evidence for an idea, consider why an author included certain information, or decide whether an argument makes sense.

Each book section wraps up with writing practice that asks them to pull together what they’ve learned and explain their thinking. With practice, they learn to ask better questions, find evidence, and explain their answers. Those are the skills that prepare them for high school English.

    The goal isn’t to hand over every decision. It’s to give them meaningful choices within the boundaries you set. There is one God who has always existed as three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God created all things, including human beings, by His own direct act. Salvation is a free and forever-secure gift, received by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus came in human flesh, was born of a virgin, and rose bodily from the grave. He will one day return in person, in His own body, to reign on the earth for a thousand years. This return will be personal, bodily, and premillennial.
