Filled with nature-themed pages that celebrate God’s wonderful world, this coloring book invites little hands to discover nature, weather, and the changing seasons.
Not at all! The lessons are designed to be open-and-go, meaning minimal prep work is needed. Occasionally, you may need to gather simple materials for activities, but most lessons can be done with little to no advanced planning. Each unit is themed around a location though, so if that is not readily available, you will need to find a virtual option or make a substitution. There are lessons for each unit that are applicable whether or not you visit the location.
I study and write using the KJV and ESV Bibles. However, our products are written with the intent that children and families will look up Scripture in the Bible of their choice. The Biblical Worldview section of the parent planning pages guides age-appropriate conversations with Bible references and discussion questions.
The set includes a Backyard and Beyond curriculum book, coloring book, matching game, reusable sticker book, sticker map to track progress, Primary Planner B, a magnifying glass, and a themed backpack.
You should purchase one curriculum kit per child. Children need to be able to write in their books, track their progress with the sticker map, and have their own game, magnifying glass, and backpack. If you have a younger child, you can purchase an additional coloring book.
This curriculum has 20 field trips and coordinating activities. Material for each trip lasts about 1 week. It is important to know that school happens everywhere! This curriculum gives you freedom to take longer on some trips and also pursue additional activities during the “traditional school year”.
There is a suggested reading list to accompany the units, but the books mentioned are not required. Common household items may be needed for hands-on activities and dramatic play.
God has blessed the Not Consumed team with a great deal of education (including a variety of degrees) and decades of combined homeschool experience. Several team members have subject specific degrees or master's degrees in education, specifically curriculum design.
I believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. I believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.
Though schools can be accredited, there is not an accreditation program for curriculum.
I've wanted to get my kids out doing and experiencing the natural world more, but just haven't been sure where to start. This curriculum is gorgeous and will be a great way to hold myself accountable with incorporating more adventure in our lives.
I bought this curriculum so that we can cater to charlotte mason nature idea, but alsp with direction and activities. I love the idea of being outside and enjoying nature together as part of our school day and lessons that come from nature. This is field trip based so that also takes the pressure off me of planning field trips and lessons to go along with it! Looked through the curriculum last night and can't wait to get started this fall!
