My son professed his faith publicly about 6 months ago, and I've wanted to encourage his personal Bible study time. I tried another Bible study guide (from elsewhere) that was designed for ages 8-12, but I could tell that he was just viewing it as a thing to check off his daily list rather than as a personal time of connection with God and his Word. To be fair, the questions in that study were very surface-level, so it's hard to blame him for not feeling like he was deeply connecting with the Lord! Well, after he had a run of several teachable obedience moments (sigh), I found this Bible study for him. It was encouraging to see him interested in the study, retaining what he learned, and spending time in prayer. Looking forward to doing our next Not Consumed study! Thank you!
This was our first Not Consumed Bible Study, and we loved it. It gives you the opportunity to look up Scripture, and read about examples from the Bible, but also has a place each day to direct your thoughts inwardly and examine your own heart. We have already started our second Bible Study, but we still bring up our Obey study from time to time when we need some reminding. The little tag lines kinda stick with you. Obey with delay and obey joyfully are ones we usually need some help remembering. lol. So thankful to have found these amazing studies!
Homeschooling, mom of 5 and a Pastors Family….. we’ve done a lot but this study just hit home with my kids! How we can obey but have an ugly heart and how God sees this! I can’t recommend this enough!!!!! My older kits actually journal through theirs. But we all sit and do this together in the mornings. Doing group discussions. Even my younger kids have soaked in the lessons. We will definitely be buying all the units!!!!
This was our very first study to use and I am so glad we did! It laid the foundation for our daily walk with the Lord and in our household wrt disciplining. Would recommend this study to any family.
As a family, we believe our children get the same awesome God we do - not a junior version of Him. While this Bible study is put in a way the younger kids will understand, it certainly isn’t void of truth. We have all heard that still, small voice through the text of this study, referenced verses, and the conversations it has sparked. This study isn’t the typical “listen to God and your parents or else” sort of study that drags on and bores everyone. It is life-giving and goes into WHY in a way that draws everyone in with clarity and love. I’m torn between excitement to start another study and the joy in taking our time to savor every bite of this one.
This is our second unit study we have done and my girls loved leaning what it means to Obey and see records in the bible of different circumstances of obeying
This changed everything for us. We've been homeschooling for a year and my daughter (7) was fighting me every step of the way. I came across Not Consumed around the time I decided I needed to take a step back from the book work and focus on character first. We began with Obey. I mean I've been teaching my girls (7 and 3) about the importance of obedience for years, but it wasn't really clicking. Who knew they needed to know what it meant to obey, how to obey and why to obey? Ha ha, sounds so obvious now. We've just absolutely eaten this study up. My girls love it and are asking for more studies by Kim. Our mornings start out in the Word and we get to apply it the rest of the day. These studies are for all those parents who want to bring their children up in the training and admonition of the Lord but need a little bit of practice advise on how to do that. Thank you Kim!
My girls are 7,5, & 4 and they have all enjoyed doing this Bible Study. The girls ask everyday when we are going to do our Bible Study and my youngest sings the Trust and Obey song constantly. I am so glad to have found this study which shares our values in a kid friendly and fun way.
We are enjoying this bible study. The kids are getting into their bible and discovering God's truth. Kim has a gift for writing in a way that we all are engaged. She lays it out in a way that my kids can choose to work together or by themselves, I love watching them work in the study guides. This has even changed my perspective on obedience and showed me a couple things that I hadn't seen before. Highly recommend
