Elementary Reading Journal (Digital)

Elementary Reading Journal (Digital)

Fall in love with reading again!

The Elementary Reading Journal is a full-year homeschool reading curriculum that allows your kids in grades 2-5 to pick their own books while sharpening their comprehension and analytical skills. All in 15 minutes a day!

Suggested age level: Grades 2-5

The Reading Journal is 168 lessons recommended for grades 2-5. Comprised of 28 unique lessons that focus on vocabulary, word study, comprehension, and higher-level thinking skills, the journal cycles through each lesson 6 times throughout the year, providing just the right amount of practice without too much monotony.

About once a week, students are asked to evaluate the content of their book based on God's truth. They will compare/contrast with Scripture, consider a character's behavior/influence, and even write out how they might share Jesus with the character.

Once a child learns how to read, he/she needs to continue skill-building throughout the elementary years. The Reading Journal provides the necessary practice while still allowing the student to choose what he/she would most enjoy reading.;

Excellent for hesitant reader

My 2nd grade daughter has just stayed using the journal and its been a great way to encourage her in her reading practice without a ton of pressure. I found we were previously doing a lot of reading "work" but not as much reading. This has helped greatly. My kindergartener wants one now too!

Renewed excitement for reading!

This journal helped my child to feel excited about reading again and look forward to writing about the books she's reading. It also helps me as the parent-teacher to have a flexible reading plan and a record of what was read.

Love this!

This keeps my kids accountable as they read, and they don't mind doing it! They love that they get to choose books (on grade level).

LOVE IT

What a great way to engage children in their reading. I love that they can read whatever books they like and then record their reading time in a fun, creative, education way. Great

Great variety

I love this for my son, he is just getting to the age where he can read independently and respond to what he has read so this is a wonderful addition to our schooling. We don’t use it everyday but one easily could if you used just literature for reading curriculum. We use this as a requirement to respond to independent reading at least once a week. He can choose the type response he wants to do since there are several options

Great variety!

I love that these journal prompts aren't overwhelming and they have such variety. My 8 year old is able to complete them often on his own. I let him choose which one he wants to do each day.

So worth it!

I love this journal and my son is equally excited about it! We are a ways in and he doesn’t hesitate one bit. In fact, I haven’t needed to remind him about it yet… he’s so excited to use it daily. I homeschool four kids, so having this for my third grader gives me a good way to check in on how much he reads and whether he is actually understanding what he’s reading.

This is Great!

This is great to use for my daughter,(7) who loves to read! She often finishes her work faster than her brother, so this will be great for her to explore her books more deeply and to get some more writing practice too! Love it! Thank you!

Great for Summer Reading

We will be using these for summer reading. I told my kids that if they write in it everyday, by the end of the week, they'll get a reward.
