Connections is a gentle, easy-to-use reading curriculum that systematically teaches phonics and literacy skills through a structured progression of letter sounds, blends, and sight words.
Connections reading curriculum is the perfect next step after completing Beginnings, guiding children from basic letter knowledge to reading fluency through step by step instruction.
Each lesson is open-and-go, pairing phonics concepts and sight words with engaging stories and fun activities.
The curriculum includes letter tiles for hands-on learning and enables parents to teach at their child's pace with confidence, making the transition from letter recognition to independent reading smooth and strong.
No placement test is needed. If your child already knows letter sounds and can identify them in the beginning, middle, and end of words, you should start with Connections.
The time spent on each lesson depends on the needs of the child. The actual lesson and activities for the day should take between 10-30 minutes. However, playing and exploring with letter tiles, practicing reading, and fine motor skill development are encouraged to continue throughout the day!
At the end of Beginnings, your child will be able to read 42 sight words. They will be able to sound out words with short vowels. By the end of Connections, your child will know 108 sight words and will be able to read at a beginner/early reading level.
There are 2 teaching pages included in the student book at the beginning of each week that give you step-by-step instructions on the activities to complete and any teaching tips you will need. - open and go
God has blessed the Not Consumed team with a great deal of education (including a variety of degrees) and decades of combined homeschool experience. Several team members have subject specific degrees or master's degrees in education, specifically curriculum design.
I believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. I believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.
Though schools can be accredited, there is not an accreditation program for curriculum.
