What started as an elementary-level curriculum has now grown into a multi-level language arts curriculum that will take you from 2nd grade all the way through high school!
I created the Reading Journal when one of my daughters began seriously struggling with our reading curriculum. I knew some underlying vision issues were causing her to be a little below level, but the main issue was that she hated the subject. We needed a change. So I dusted off my M.A.Ed. and created a reading curriculum that would fit ANY book that piqued her interest. Together she and I created something that changed everything.
If reading is a constant battle in your homeschool, the Reading Journal is for you!
HOW IT WORKS
Pick Your Books as You Go
Once your student picks their book to read, simply print out the section of the journal that applies to that book's category (fiction/nonfiction) and genre (biography, Christian lifestyle, informational, etc.).
The journal will guide them through pre-reading evaluation and planning, daily questions to answer based on their reading, and a final application project to complete when they finish their book!
Plan the Whole Year
Another option is to make your curriculum complete by selecting the books you'd like to read at the beginning of the year and printing out the right journal pages for each book.
Then you can put these pages in a notebook or have them spiral bound. (Most local copy stores can do this for you.)
Wondering how Kim uses the journal with her kids? Along with your purchase of the Reading Journal, you'll receive a digital file laid out the way that Kim set it up to use with her own kids!
This gives you the choice to either choose how many of each type of book you would like to use for the year and print it accordingly or to print it the way Kim set it up to use for her kids and have a variety of everything!
