Fall in love with reading again!
The Middle School Reading Journal is a full-year homeschool language arts curriculum that allows your middle schooler to
pick their own fiction and nonfiction books while sharpening their
comprehension and
analytical skills.
With a special focus on style, facts, ideas, and biographical character evaluation, our Nonfiction portion of the Middle School Reading Journal helps your middle schooler discern between worldly wisdom and biblically sound philosophies in their reading.
Our Fiction section hones in on plot, character development, atmosphere, and literary devices to guide your middle schooler in recognizing when literature presents a biblical worldview and when it glorifies themes or characters who oppose God and His truth.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THE MIDDLE SCHOOL READING JOURNAL
What started as an elementary-level curriculum has now grown into a multi-level language arts curriculum that will take you from 2nd grade all the way through high school!
I created the Reading Journal when one of my daughters began seriously struggling with our reading curriculum. I knew some underlying vision issues were causing her to be a little below level, but the main issue was that she hated the subject. We needed a change. So I dusted off my M.A.Ed. and created a reading curriculum that would fit ANY book that piqued her interest. Together she and I created something that changed everything.
If reading is a constant battle in your homeschool, the Reading Journal is for you!
Wondering how Kim uses the journal with her kids? Along with your purchase of the Reading Journal, you'll receive a digital file laid out the way that Kim set it up to use with her own kids!
This gives you the choice to either choose how many of each type of book you would like to use for the year and print it accordingly or to print it the way Kim set it up to use for her kids and have a variety of everything!

Love how it is so versatile, and it helps break down the understanding of so many categories of books.
We have done one of the fiction journals so far. I like how each day is just half a page so it's not overwhelming. It touches on some great topics like story parts and character traits. It gives accountability for my son's personal reading as well.
Love this, wonderful tool for writing growth! Worth every penny
My daughter is a reluctant reader although she reads & comprehends very well. This reading journal gets right to the point & focuses on the important pieces of reading analysis & application. I like that there's an A & B journal to mix things up. Very thankful we found this to compliment her reading choices & make the experience more enjoyable.
The book reports are in depth, keep God's view of things in perspective and pull in many areas of learning in one form! Very impressed as always and can't wait to start these this next year!
These book journals help to better understand the books we read. Great study tools
I originally had the first book they made and it was great. I plan to use with my littles. But now that my other two are older I'm happy NC has this level. Its fun and quick and great addition to our English. We're homeschoolers so fits right in. Love that they have different kinds for different books
I've used Not Consumed reading journals for a few years now and I'm so thankful for this updated version for middle school age students! Its perfect!
This allows my kids to have a multifaceted review of the books they have chosen whether it's biographies, fiction, non-fiction or anything in between. It also has them compare to what God teaches in His word to that of which they read. We are super excited to start these as part of our homeschooling curriculum this next year!
