Prayer is our lifeline as Christians and we know that's a powerful thing. But prayer isn't just for adults—kids need to learn how to use this precious gift from God too! Because it is an exercise of reliance, trust, and surrender to God, prayer takes humility and lots of practice.
In the Garden is our Bible study that tackles the subject of prayer. With 25 simple, Scripture-packed lessons, this study will teach your kids the importance of having a consistent prayer life and help them practice biblical prayer so they can confidently come before the throne of their Heavenly Father with their requests—whether big or small.
This Bible study is available in 2 age levels that fit together perfectly. Each lesson has a consistent key truth, key Scripture, and central theme no matter what age level your kids are working in. Junior (ages 8–12) and Youth (ages 13+) can be done independently.
Note: There is not a Primary version for this study; it is designed for older kids and teens.
Each study in the family Bible study bundle also comes with a fun pack, including verse cards, stickers, and a bookmark. A fun and conversational Bible study button is also included.
Help the Bible come to life for your kids through award-winning audio dramas. Our In The Garden Bible study makes an excellent faith-filled gift, as it encourages spiritual growth through engaging Bible study, exciting audio drama, and daily truth reminders (that just so happen to look pretty cool).
This CD is supplemental and can be used before, during, or after your study. You decide!
Jessica's Journey (ages 9+)
Over 100 years ago, there was a darkness over Victorian England ... a darkness in which children were used and abused.
As a web of characters become entangled with the knowledge of their past sins, a minister, a miser, and an unfit mother each encounter a miraculous redemption through their connection with the little Jessica—and her answer to prayer.
This audio drama CD is recommended for ages 9+
What version of the Bible do you use?
I study and write using the KJV and ESV Bibles. However, my studies are written with the intent that children and families will look up Scripture in the Bible of their choice, with specific attention taken to ensure questions can be answered from a variety of translations. So you should be able to use whatever version your family prefers. It's my passion to see kids opening the Bible themselves, so we've been very intentional about this.
What do you believe?
I believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. I believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.
What age level should I buy?
This is by far the most common question we get around here. Please check out this video. I'll show you the differences between the levels and walk you through how to use them as a family!
How many copies should I buy?
If you are buying digital, you only need one copy. If you plan to share with people outside of your home (like a group, co-op, church, etc.), you will need a site license to do so. Those can be found on each product's page.
If you are buying softcover, you should purchase one copy per child. This will enable children to write in the book, as it is designed to record their drawings and responses to the Word. Please check out this video for more explanation on why this is so important!
How long are your studies?
Each Bible study is a slightly different length, ranging from 20 lessons to 28 lessons. We suggest doing one lesson a day. Most kids find that it takes about 15 minutes a day.

We used this study for multiple ages--all seemed to learn and enjoy. This has an attractive design . Well organized--easy to use at the start of our school day.
Wonderful family study that we used to teach our younger and middle children the foundation for prayer. This study answered so many of their simple questions and always used scripture to do it. I love how teaching them to pray is modeled after the prayer that Jesus prayed Himself. Great job NC! You did it again! Thank you for going above and beyond in all things and doing everything as unto the Lord!
Parent guides are really just adult lessons that teach us and allow us to be a better conduit for teaching our children. So much thought has gone into these and yet so simple and efficient that you can easily fit them into your daily schedule!
Kids lessons are simple, easy to digest and yet promote critical thinking and in depth study.

We are doing this study during the summer. My younger daughter said this is the best bible study she did so far. She said she likes how each of these studies focus on one topic. For example, In the Garden focuses on prayer.
After this study, I look forward trying other studies in Not Consumed. I am so glad we started this study!
I usually buy the digital edition of these studies so I can print more than one for my kids, but decided to get the physical book this time and I am so glad I did! It comes with stickers, bookmark, and scripture cards that are a fun encouragement to my kids. The study itself is full of God’s truths, things to think about and talk about that I might not have thought of on my own, and it’s a study that my kids actually learn from and enjoy. Not just a fill in the missing word type study, but a “lets think about this and apply it!” type study.
This study can help all family members grow in their understanding of what prayer is really all about - how to pray, why to pray, the heart attitude to grow when you speak to and listen and respond to God, the types of prayer and so on. A well-rounded guide to prayer grounded in Scripture.
We have gone through all of our studies together as a family, but my 10 year old just completed this study on his own. He feels he has grown in his faith and prayer life. I love that the answers are not always obvious, teaching the kids to research Scripture, who wrote it, when it was written, etc. It also teaches them to read previous Scripture, so as to learn the context, which I feel is very important! We haven't been disappointed by any study yet! Thank you, Kim!
We have almost all of the studies, and I love this one just as much! There is one difference that makes this study a game changer… my kids are learning to come to God in a whole different way. As PK’s sometimes they are expected at church to know more, pray “like grownups”, and sometimes it saps their confidence and leads them to show more than they feel. The beautiful part of this study for me is hearing them admit that as they learn all the ways they can approach God for themselves. This study is helping them approach God as themselves, as they are, not as they think they should be, with what concerns them, with scripture to back it up that God is there and cares. The layout and progression of the study is great too! Their prayers are so much more real and confident! I see them relating to God on so many new levels, and it is like watching a door open in their hearts. I cannot say enough about the studies #not consumed puts out. As a Bible teacher myself of middle schoolers, I so appreciate their in context scripture use and their push for hearing, believing, and then doing God’s will.
