Our Heavy Feelings Series looks at fear, anger, grief, bitterness, and life's struggles through the lens of the Bible. It teaches kids and teens how to process their emotions and give them to God. Each study focuses on a different feeling, and they all work together to provide kids and teens with the foundation they need to face the trials of this life!

FAQ

There is no scripture written out in our studies, only references. When it comes to growing faith, it's crucial that kids look up passages in the Bible for themselves and our studies are written to help them do that!

We study and write using ESV, as well as a variety of translations. Special attention has been given to make sure kids can answer questions regardless of the translation they are using.

We believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth. Read more here.

This is by far the most common question we get around here. Please check out this video. I'll show you the differences between the levels and walk you through how to use them as a family!

You'll want to purchase one copy per child at their specific age level. This will enable children to study at their level and record their own drawings and responses to the Word.

We highly encourage you to make sure that each child can participate by having their own book on their own level. You can learn more about why in this video.

Each Bible study is a slightly different length, ranging from 20 lessons to 28 lessons. We suggest doing one lesson a day. Most kids find that it takes about 15 minutes a day.

Engaging and thought provoking

I am doing the heavy feelings bundle with my 4 kids (ages 5-12), and I love that we can do it together. We are 7 days in. Typically I will read one of the older kids’ book and then they do the activities as we go along. It’s helped all of them to gain a biblical perspective on difficult times and struggles.

I use this in homeschool for our devotional in the mornings. I love watching my son grow closer to God through this study.

An Enjoyable Study

I purchased the bundle set for my son and have currently gotten through the first two books, Making Lemonade and Fear Not. Overall I have found the lessons to be well-written and beautiful, with nice pictures and relatable examples provided. My son was most excited that the bible study came with a sticker sheet so he can put stickers wherever he wants, and I thought the twistable crayons that come with the bundle lesson were a fun touch.

I do regret purchasing the Primary Level for him and wish I had instead purchased the Pre-K level, however, just based on his readiness. While he will be turning five very soon, I felt some of the engage questions in the lesson aren't really relatable to him yet as he is so young and he doesn't care much for drawing. If you are hedging back and forth between doing Pre-K or Primary like I was, I would recommend you just go with the Pre-K as it comes with a lot of stickers and all kids love stickers. If I could go back in time, I would have gone with the younger lesson for my son.

One tiny critique I have with the lesson for Primary is that it is designed for the grown-ups or older siblings to read to the younger kids, but the script we are supposed to read has a lot of "I" statements (such as, "One time when I was younger, I experienced..."). As we are reading this to the younger child, it sounds like we are talking about our own experiences instead of the author's experiences. I wish that those stories were written differently to avoid telling someone else's story as personal experience.

Parent Bundle

We use these for our Bible time in homeschool. We like that the bundles are open and go, each one is roughly a month, and the bundled studies fit together so well that it makes planning Bible in our studies very easy. The Heavy Feelings Series in particular stood out to me because my daughter is entering her teen years and is having some big feelings as she encounters new experiences. I want her to know how to handle those feelings in a positive way. With the parent books I can do the same studies and discuss it with her. I have big feelings too as I am going through changes myself so I am very much looking forward to them.

Great!

Excited as we open our boxes and dig into “Making Lemonade.” I have a freshman, 7th, 5th, and 1st grader. I love that we can study the same topic and discuss together! Thank you, Kim and Team, for all the work you put into making great Godly resources!

Great for kids and parents!

So far this series has exceeded my expectations. It's keeping my children engaged. It has thought provoking questions that our family can really interact together and have a thoughtful discussion about trials, tribulations, and how God is there to help us through all our struggles. I would definitely buy another series!
