Not Consumed’s 2nd Grade Curriculum Bundle helps students understand that everything in God's creation is actually in motion. Instead of just learning information, they are guided through ideas they can see, test, and think through.
Through experiments and hands-on learning in Discoveries in Motion and Planner D, kids stay engaged and involved in each lesson. Throughout the year, they connect these concepts to biblical truth, making sense of how the Creator masterfully set the world in motion.
The Elementary Reading Journal and Elementary Reading Guide Safari pair beautifully together to help kids learn how stories work, how information is organized, and what readers should pay attention to as they read.
With the 2nd Grade Bundle, your child will learn:
Each week introduces key concepts related to motion and systems, illustrated through real-world examples and grounded in a biblical worldview. Your child will work through experiments, observations, writing, and guided activities that build understanding step by step. Six field trip guides that support each unit are also included.
As the year progresses, your child will take on more responsibility, learning how to record observations, complete work independently, and think through what they are learning.
Can I use this if I didn’t use Creatures in Creation or the Not Consumed 1st Grade Curriculum Bundle? Yes. You can start with Discoveries in Motion even if your child used something different for first grade. If your child has used Creatures in Creation and the Not Consumed 1st Grade Curriculum Bundle, this is a natural next step. If not, you can start here with confidence.
Are the lessons in the 2nd Grade Bundle components open-and-go? Yes. Most lessons can be started immediately, with minimal preparation.
How many copies should I purchase? One curriculum set per child is recommended. Children need their own materials to write, track progress, and fully engage with the activities.
What Bible translation is used? Bible references are provided so families can use the translation they prefer.
What does this curriculum cover? Do I need anything else? The Not Consumed 2nd Grade Curriculum Bundle is designed to explore how God designed the world to operate through motion, force, and interconnected systems, developing real understanding rather than just surface-level facts. Scripture and biblical worldview are woven throughout the curriculum, helping your child recognize the order and design God placed in creation.
Planner D gives students a clear way to track their work, think about science through what they are learning, and take responsibility for their day.
The Elementary Reading Journal provides a place for young readers to continue skill-building throughout the elementary years. The Reading Journal provides necessary practice while still allowing the student to choose what he/she would most enjoy reading.
The Elementary Reading Guide Safari is a visual, step-by-step reading tool that defines basic reading skills.
The Not Consumed 2nd Grade Math curriculum is currently in development and will be released in Spring 2027.
What are the credentials of the Not Consumed Team? God has blessed the Not Consumed team with a great deal of education (including a variety of degrees) and decades of combined homeschool experience. Several team members have subject-specific degrees or master's degrees in education, specifically curriculum design.
What do you believe? I believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. I believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.
