28 Unique Lessons

Lessons focus on vocabulary, word study, comprehension, and higher-level thinking skills. The journal cycles through each lesson 6 times throughout the year, providing just the right amount of practice without too much monotony.

Weekly Evaluations

Students are asked to evaluate the content of their book based on God's truth. They will compare/contrast with Scripture, consider a character's behavior/influence, and even write out how they might share Jesus with the character.

Continue Building Skills

Once a child learns how to read, he/she needs to continue skill-building throughout the elementary years. The Reading Journal provides the necessary practice while still allowing the student to choose what he/she would most enjoy reading.

I believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. I believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.
Is the curriculum accredited?

Though schools can be accredited, there is not an accreditation program for curriculum.

Simple and effective

My avid reader loves doing the different activities with the content she’s already reading as a way to demonstrate her understanding of, or apply grammar and writing concepts. This is such a simple but valuable addition to our homeschool day, and will be added for my second kiddo in the future!

So glad I purchased these!

I purchased 2 reading journals for my boys ages 10 and 7 to help them with their summer reading. After school had finished, I looked back and noticed that neither one of my boys had brought home a single book or novel to read. They did not complete any reading assignments or book reports or even projects. So I looked for something they could do at home to get them engaged at reading but also use as a tool for me to let me know if they were truly understanding what they were reading. I love that the pages are sectioned into Fiction, Nonfiction, or Any book so they can read what interests them but also be able to fill out the pages accordingly. Neither one of my boys give me any pushback to doing this over the summer and it has been a great way for me to check in on their reading skills. I highly recommend!

Reading journal

I have loved this reading journal! I have used it in our homeschool for book reports after my daughter has finished a book. It’s pretty short and concise but makes her be able to write down what she read with some prompts.

Fun way to learn on books kids read!!!

My daughter absolutely is engaged after she read and I told her to fill out one of the sections!!! I plan to use it for after her reading!!!

I absolutely love this reading log!

We use this as a supplement, and it is absolutely fantastic for developing reading skills and comprehension. Each page has reading prompts which allow my child to develop critical thinking skills. We can choose our own books, and apply those skills to analyze different stories and characters in a variety of ways. Venn diagrams, compare and contrast, etc. What an amazing resource for a developing reader - we highly recommend it!

Great Addition to Reading Time

Last year my daughter read and wrote a little on her own for reading time in our homeschool. This year as she is a third grader, I was looking for something a little more organized for her to work on. This has been a great addition. It has also really opened up the world of non-fiction for her, as she mainly read fictional books. We had to find non-fiction books on things she was interested in to fill in the non-fiction sections. She is loving it! I am as well. It is something I can guide her on, but allow her to do independently. It also gives her a chance to think a little more about what she is reading. I plan to buy these for the next several years for her as well.

Great journal!

Bought for our 3rd grader, love how easily this has encouraged him to read daily. I can let him pick the book for the day- picture or chapter - and know that he will be reading and working on comprehension no matter the choice . We have been using it for three weeks now and it has proven to be an easy and engaging addition to our curriculum this year. Such a flexible format with great questions and appealing graphics. We received a free daily verse card pack with our order and they exceeded my expectations. Nice quality with a small wood stand to display them. Beautiful!

My son is loving it

This reading journal has been the perfect piece for encouraging my young reader to read more books. In a digital age where everything is thrown at us instantaneously it's challenging at times to slow down and read. I really want to develop strong readers and this is an excellent resource. We've been using it a month and I told him once it's filled up he can go pick out a lego set... that's highly motivating lol...
