Foundations of Faith is a Bible study for families unlike any of our other studies. Using a family Bible study format, this parent-led study will equip you to lead discussions on difficult issues and develop a statement of faith that will be a keepsake and a teaching tool for years to come.
Different from our other Not Consumed studies, this study begins with our Parent Guide as the starting point. The Parent Guide is then supplemented with the Junior or Youth levels for your kids.
Why you'll love this Bible study
The Bible calls us to teach our children diligently and you're certainly trying. But in the wake of disappointing court rulings and scandalous baby killing videos, the question must be asked: Do my kids REALLY know what the Bible says about this?
I found myself wondering the same thing after my daughter asked me a question I thought surely she knew the answer to. That day everything changed. I knew I had to give my kids the tools they need to stand strong and defend their faith. If I didn't, I'd find them eating out of the hands of wolves.
This study will help your family develop a statement of faith on crucial topics before it's too late. Let me make the process easy-peasy for you to start!
Rest assured, you are not told what to think about these very important issues, but are provided with Scripture, additional reading, and thoughtful questions to ponder as you consider each of the issues at hand. It's very important that families consider the facts as they develop their own statements of faith. The content was developed with a non-denominational flexibility to ensure that your family can have the reins.
Part 1 lays the foundation with a 10-lesson Bible study of the basics of the Christian faith. Each family member has lessons on his/her age-level to complete and then come together to discuss. We recommend getting a book for each family member.
Part 2 digs deep into each 10 cultural issues kids and teens face in society today such as the sanctity of life and marriage, media use, and purity. This section of the study is meant to be done together as a family and not by the student individually.
You'll find a list of Scripture to ponder, helpful resources, and questions to ask as a family. Space to record your family’s statement of faith regarding that issue is included as well.
Which Levels Are Available?

The Captive (ages 8+)
Kidnapped by Algerian pirates, recent graduate Anselmo finds himself on a merciless slave ship heading to the auction block in a foreign country. Having escaped the cruelty of his first master and the death grip of the desert, Anselmo is taken captive by a new master, where he finds mercy as well as condemnation. This dramatic rendition of The Captive will whisk you into a world where the clash between Islam and Christianity brings certain destruction and death. But everything changes when Anselmo begins teaching the words of Jesus, as his life speaks louder than his words.
What version of the Bible do you use?
I study and write using the KJV and ESV Bibles. However, my studies are written with the intent that children and families will look up Scripture in the Bible of their choice, with specific attention taken to assure questions can be answered from a variety of translations. So you should be able to use whatever version your family prefers. It's my passion to see kids opening the Bible themselves, so we've been very intentional about this.
What do you believe?
I believe that the Bible is the absolute authority in matters of faith and practice. It's 100% true, with no exceptions or figurative sections. I believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of Scripture; in one God eternally existing in three Persons; in the creation of all things, including man, as the direct act of God; in eternally secure salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the incarnation and virgin birth of Christ, and in His bodily resurrection; in the personal, bodily, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His millennial reign on earth.
What age level should I buy?
This is by far the most common question we get around here. Please check out this video. I'll show you the differences between the levels and walk you through how to use them as a family!
How many copies should I buy?
If you are buying digital, you only need one copy. If you plan to share with people outside of your home (like a group, co-op, church, etc) you will need a site license to do so. Those can be found on each product's page.
If you are buying softcover, you should purchase one copy per child. This will enable children to write in the book, as it is designed to record their drawings and responses to the Word. Please check out this video for more explanation on why this is so important!
How long are your studies?
Each Bible study is a slightly different length, ranging from 20 lessons to 28 lessons. We suggest doing one lesson a day. Most kids find that it takes about 15 minutes a day.
