Because I Said So: A Biblical Study of Obedience

Because I Said So

Are you tired of "because I said so" being your only line of defense for getting your children to obey? Do you wish they would understand the importance of obedience?

What if I told you that you can teach your kids to actually WANT to obey? YOU CAN. It's not some far-fetched parenting dream. Building a foundation of biblical truth is the way to help your children want to obey for the right reasons.

AND this study will help you do that. Let's start today!

importance of obedience

Journey through scripture and learn about people who struggled with obedience in this kid's Bible study that includes HOW, WHY, and WHEN we should obey. Children will be challenged to seek answers in the Bible for the number one issue in their lives: obedience. Each day is filled with a look at someone in the Bible who had real struggles just like they do. Children will be challenged to think about the scripture and apply it to their lives.

Which version to buy

Because I Said So comes in two age levels: primary and junior. The Primary book is intended for ages 4-8. Parents read along with the child and then the child responds verbally, as well as with pictures. The language is simple and the concepts are easily understood by young children.

Junior (ages 8-12)

The junior version is for kids ages 8-12. Its language is a little bit more in-depth than the primary version. It's written with the intention that the child will do it independently. Instead of big boxes to draw in, you'll find lines to write on and questions to reflect on God's truth.

We suggest purchasing one softcover book for each child, as these books are intended to be written in.

At this time, we do not have an older version, but please stay tuned as we expect a teen version in early 2020.

How to Use as a family

When using as a family, each child should get his/her own copy on their age level. We recommend having kids ages 8 and up work alone while you work with younger kids. Strong readers should begin working on their own as soon as they are able, but I wouldn't recommend doing this before at least age 8.

Once each child has completed their lesson for the day, meet together as a family to discuss what you've learned. (Think good old fashioned Bible study style!)

Discussion is the best way to help your kids read the Bible for themselves and develop the kind of PERSONAL faith they need as they grow older. When you have to repeat what you've learned, it creates a deeper learning. Plus, when you do a Bible study as a whole group, kids tend to lean on each other instead of applying the knowledge themselves!
